Custom Validation

Within DGIS you have the option of creating your own custom validation rules for shipping at your company. Rules can be created that will further restrict what a company allows their users to ship. A custom validation rule can be entered as a Warning or as an Error.

Custom rules can be managed via Administration > Custom Validation.

Creating New Rules

To create a new Custom Validation rule, click the Create Rule button in the top right-hand corner.

Give the rule a name in the Rule Name field and add text to Custom Validation Description field. This text will be visible to the user when the rule applies, so it is helpful to convey a clear message.

Next, select whether the Rule should be a Warning or an Error. If it is a warning, the program will give the user the warning when completing the shipment, but it will not stop them from completing the shipment. An error stops the user from completing the shipment until the error is corrected.

Finally, click on the tabs and enter the restrictions you want to include in the Rule. Select Save in the top right-hand corner to save and activate the Rule.

Editing Existing Rules

To edit an existing Custom Validation rule, click Manage for that rule. The criteria for that rule will open on the screen. You can edit any of the criteria fields, then click the Save at the top right of the screen to save any changes to that rule.

Deleting Rules

To delete an existing Custom Validation rule, click the Trash icon for that rule. Click the Delete button on the prompt and that rule will be deleted from the program.
