DGIS 2.6 Release Notes (12/30/2016)

Minimal Administration Required

The changes included in this release are estimated to have a potentially minimal impact on DGIS systems and DGIS administrator responsibilities. Actions required may vary depending on materials and regulations used within your DGIS system. Please see below for more details.



Any templates or parts that include UNIDs with changes in this document may need to be updated on December 31st with the revised materials.

DGIS Content

Update Highlights – This release will include regulatory updates to the DGLs, DGAs, Packing Instructions, Variations, Regulations Module and any other type of regulatory content for Q1 2017. Listed below are examples of key changes:

  • International Air
    • Proper Shipping Name changes:
      • 51% in "Dibenzoyl peroxide (> 51%, inert solid with ≤ 48%)" has been updated to 52%.
      • Type E in "tert-Butyl cumyl peroxide (> 42%) - see Organic peroxide type E, liquid (UN 3107)" has been updated to type F.
      • 32% and 68% in "tert-Butyl peroxyacetate (≤ 32%, diluent type B ≥ 68%) - see Organic peroxide type F, liquid (UN 3109)" have been updated to 37% and 63%, respectively.
      • Liquid in "tert-Butyl peroxy-3,5,5-trimethylhexanoate (≤ 42%, inert solid ≥ 58%) - see Organic peroxide type D, liquid (UN 3105)" has been updated to solid.
    • UNID changes:
      • UN3166 entries with 'Engine' in the PSN have been changed to UN3528 for liquid powered and UN3529 for gas powered engines.
    • Hazard Class changes:
      • UN3507 entries have been changed from Hazard Class 8 to 6.1 (8 is now a Subsidiary Risk for the entries).
      • UN2978 and UN2977 entries have had a Class 6.1 Subsidiary Risk added.
    • Packing Instructions 603, 450 and Y450 have been added.
    • Packing Instruction 459 has been updated.
    • Variation names have been updated to match IATA naming on validation messages.
    • The list of carriers has been updated.
    • Added the text "Classified in accordance with of the DGR" to the Additional Handling Information section when Authorizations, Approvals, or Special Permits are added to a shipment.
    • The IATA eBook has been added to DGIS


  • UPS
    • 49CFR:
      • Multiple Hazard Class 1 entries expire on 12/31/2016 and will no longer be valid.
      • Proper Shipping Name changes:
        • The comma after wetted has been removed from UN3369 "Sodium dinitro-o-cresolate, wetted, with not less than 10% water, by mass."
      • Hazard Class changes:
        • NA1993 "Combustible liquid, n.o.s." has been changed from a Hazard Class of Combustible to "Comb liq".
        • UN1194 has had a Class 6.1 Subsidiary Risk added.
      • UN1972 and UN1345 entries have been removed.
      • An entry for UN2823 with the PSN of "Crotonic acid" has been removed (the entry for "Crotonic acid, solid" remains).
      • UN3171 "Battery-powered vehicle" is now permitted for crossborder shipments to Canada.


  • Maritime
    • The IMDG 38th DGL, DGA and eBook have been added to DGIS
      • Any materials that did not change from the 37th to the 38th edition will only have an entry for 2016 (38th) when selecting materials.
      • Materials that have differences between the two editions will list both versions when selecting materials.
    • UNID changes:
      • UN3166 entries with 'Engine' in the PSN have been changed to UN3528 for liquid powered and UN3529 for gas powered engines.


DGIS Functionality

Functionality improvements

  • Added user option to select UPS WorldShip 2016 or 2017 export format.
  • Updated labeling diagram to include the new lithium battery class 9 label and UN3480 Section IB mark when appropriate.


Bug Fixes - While there are numerous bug fixes included in this release, a list of highlighted bug fixes can be found below: 

  • The list of Airline Variations now shows the correct variations for all airlines.
