DGIS 5.8 Release Notes

Minimal Administration Required

The changes included in this release are estimated to have a potentially minimal impact on DGIS systems and DGIS administrator responsibilities. Actions required may vary depending on materials and regulations used within your DGIS system. Please see below for more details.

Any templates or parts that include UNIDs with changes in this document may need to be updated after the Release date with the revised materials.

DGIS Content

Update Highlights – This release will include regulatory updates to the DGLs, DGAs, Packing Instructions, Variations, and any other type of regulatory content for Q2 2026. Listed below are examples of key changes:

  • 49CFR
    • UPS Domestic DGL has been updated per the recently published UPS Domestic Chemical Table dated April 1st, 2026.
  • IATA
    • Updated DGA pages from the 2026 IATA Regulatory Update “Revised Requirements For 24 Hour Emergency Response Number”. 
  • IMDG
    • Revised how ‘Stabilized’ material property prints on form. 

DGIS Functionality

IATA

  • Added the following package type for “UN3077, Environmentally hazardous substance, solid, n.o.s.”
    • Flexible Plastic IBC for solids, woven plastic, coated (13H2)
    • Flexible Plastic IBC for solids, woven plastic, with liner (13H3)
    • Flexible Plastic IBC for solids, woven plastic, coated and with liner (13H4)
    • Flexible Plastic IBC for solids, plastic film (13H5)

UPS

  • Added ability to update the UPS Package reference number for a completed shipment. 

Miscellaneous

  • Added ability to use Electronic Signatures to ADR, Maritime, and TDG forms. 
  • Added ability for Administrators to enable and disable Automatic Signatures. 
  • Added ability to print the Exemption Name on the Package Markings. 
  • Added informational window with link to Knowledge Center article when hovering mouse over certain DGIS fields. 
  • Added Error message when viewing Print >Package Markings screen when no Package Marking Setting has been set as default. 
  • Added UNID as a criteria for Custom Rules.
  • Removed access to Administration > Defaults screen for Non-Administrators. 
  • Added screen prompt alert at Shipping Papers Tab > Integration screen informing a user when they have unsaved changes when navigating away from screen. 

FedEx Integration

  • Added ability to change the 'Location' and 'Location Description' on FedEx Account detail and edit screen [FedEx Integration users]. 
  • Updated FedEx Integration Error/Warning verbiage to state ‘Account/Meter number is empty’ when no value has been entered for Account Number field has been left blank [FedEx Integration users].

Shipment Audit

  • Added ability for DGIS Administrators to control the visibility of the legacy ‘Checklist’ column in the event the Shipment Audit feature is added to the DGIS subscription. 
  • Added ability for the User Role to be able to view downgraded shipments on the History screen. 
  • Added guide for creating new Checklist for Shipment Audits. 
  • Updated the Label Diagram for Downgraded shipments. 

API/Web Services

  • Added ability to fetch Part information related to Exemptions and Part Documents (REST API). 
  • Added ability to create a UPS Domestic shipment and add Parts to it that contain materials regulated under 49CFR. 
  • Added PackageInstructionTypes to the Fetch Part endpoint for REST services to help determine the Packing Instruction code relevant to a part to determine eligible Carriers. 
  • Added a new REST API endpoint that can search and return shipments allowing a user to load Historical shipments via a JSON API. 
  • Added an internal change to API services so that invalid shipment statuses are removed from the ShipmentStatus list. 
  • Added Custom Carrier endpoints for REST services which enables a user to locate the identifiers of 'custom' and 'hazmat-defined' Carriers.
  • Added ability to filter on various parts of the consignee address so that a developer can write rules that create restrictions on where shipments can be sent. 
  • Added Regulation Mode details to REST API Part endpoints.

 

Bug Fixes - While there are a number of bug fixes in this release, a list of highlighted bug fixes can be found below.

  • IMDG
    • Revised how ‘Stabilized’ material property prints on form. 
  • Miscellaneous
    • Fixed warning message from being displayed when package weight is empty with "lb" unit of measurement. 
    • Fixed spelling of Safety Data Sheet located on View Parts screen. 
    • Fixed user ability to search a Material Profile by 'Description'. 
    • Fixed net weight UOM (unit of measurement) to reset when clearing net weight on the Edit Part screen. 
    • Fixed Cloning a Historical FedEx or UPS shipments from cloning the ‘Tracking ID/Package reference’. 
    • Fixed Draft shipment not recognizing a User’s assigned Location after saving shipment in print queue. 
    • Fixed the Print selected dialog box behavior in print queue so that it remains until user clicks Yes or No. 
    • Fixed Outer Package Type drop-down list choices to not display IBC’s for any UPS air services. 
    • Fixed user count mismatch on Subscription Management screen. 
    • Fixed a shipment from being completed if the shipment was Cloned from History and contains a deleted Material Profile.
    • Fixed ability to delete Locations. 
  •  FedEx Integration
    • Fixed Payment method Default values [FedEx Integration users].
    • Fixed Date field to have a red asterisk when Invoice Date has been left empty [FedEx Integration customers]. 
    • Fixed ability for users to delete FedEx Shipment Drafts [FedEx Integration users].
    • Fixed ability to print shipping papers from History when print setting is set to EPL or ZPL [FedEx Integration users].
  • Shipment Audit
    • Fixed users from being sent to Audit Details screen when audit status has been approved after deleting a Custom Rule. 
    • Fixed Shipment Audit behavior so an auditor is not allowed to approve or reject their own audit.
    • Fixed log-time threshold when a user is in Audit screen with no activity. 
  •  API/Web Services
    • Fixed length of API Secured Key Names to be no longer than 250 characters.
    • Fixed Fetch Part response so that an exemption that is not included for a specific regulation in the part is not returned in the fetch response.
