DGIS 5.3 Release Notes (3/30/2025)

DGIS Content

Update HighlightsThis release will include regulatory updates to the DGLs, DGAs, Packing Instructions, Variations, and any other type of regulatory content for Q1 2025. Listed below are examples of key changes:

  • UPS
    • Updated UPS International Dangerous Goods List.

DGIS Functionality

Functionality improvements -This release will include DGIS functionality improvements along with bug fixes for Q1 2025. Listed below are examples of key changes:

  • Overall Program Updates
    • Revised Unit of Measurement choices for Net Explosive Quantity for 49CFR, IATA, IMO, ADR, TDG and AFMAN.
  • FedEx
    • Added Warning message 'FX-05(a): All batteries transported under Special Provision A88 or A99 must be pre-approved. For requirements, see www.fedex.com/dangerousgoods, select "Get Started", "Lithium Batteries"' for FedEx IATA shipments for applicable UNIDs. 
  • UPS
    • Added Warning message '5X-08: Shipments of lithium batteries in any UPS air services (including UPS Small Package, UPS Air Freight or UPS Air Cargo services) which require the use of Special Provisions A88, A99, A183, or A331 are required to be pre-approved by the UPS Air Dangerous Goods Department (SDF); refer to 5X-09 regarding the approval process.' for UPS IATA shipments for applicable UNIDs. 
  • IATA
    • Replaced dotted lines with solid lines for the Shipper's Declaration for DG form. 
    • Expanded Compatibility & Segregation Rule Exceptions for when the same UNIDs are in a shipment.
    • Added liquid units of measurement options for UN3363, Dangerous goods in machinery, 9.  Example: L (Liters) is now available as a UOM option.

Bug Fixes - While there are a number of bug fixes in this release, a list of highlighted bug fixes can be found below.

  • 49CFR
    • Removed erroneous Package Weight error message for a Limited Quantity shipment when Composite fibre drum with plastic inner receptacle (6HG1) is selected as the Outer Package.
    • Restored Net Quantity error message 'Total net quantity of all materials exceeds the lowest material limit' for when 2 materials with the same Hazard Class are both marked as Limited Quantity in the same Outer package.
  • UPS
    • Resolved error message 'The file could not be found on the server' for certain UPS International materials located in our DGA (Dangerous Goods Advisor). 
  • Miscellaneous
    • Removed the word 'search' from appearing in the Search field when looking up a Part number
    • Fixed the root cause of the error 'The request exceeded the configured timeout of '00:00:30' on Locations screen when trying to assign all the parts to a Location'.
    • Fixed issue where DGIS does not display any part numbers when Unselected is chosen at the Manage Location Parts screen.
