DGIS 3.9 Release Notes (12/29/2019)

Minimal Administration Required

The changes included in this release are estimated to have a potentially minimal impact on DGIS systems and DGIS administrator responsibilities. Actions required may vary depending on materials and regulations used within your DGIS system. Please see below for more details.

Any templates or parts that include UNIDs with changes in this document may need to be updated after December 29 with the revised materials.

 

DGIS Content

Update Highlights – This release will include regulatory updates to the DGLs, DGAs, Packing Instructions, Variations, and any other type of regulatory content for Q4 2019. Listed below are examples of key changes:

  • ADR
    • Updated the PSNs for multiple materials for the Dutch, German, Spanish, and Swedish ADR DGL.
  • IATA
    • Updated the IATA DGL and DGA for multiple materials to reflect the 2020 IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations 61st, including:
      • Multiple packing instruction changes to Operator Variations
      • New Composite Packaging Tables added to multiple Packing Instructions
      • Updated multiple Packing Instructions to replace the verbiage “Risk” with “Hazard”.
    • Text revisions and corrections for multiple Carrier Variations, including:
      • Added multiple carrier variations, including variations for HM (Air Seychelles), LJ (Jin Air), NO (Neos SpA), O3 (SF Airlines), PM (Canary Fly), and SK (SAS)
      • Removed carriers and variations for 9W (Jet Airways), BM (BMI Regional), WC (Isleña)
      • Removed variations FI-02 and FI-03
    • Text revisions and corrections for multiple State Variations, including:
      • Added multiple state variations, including variations for KWG (Kuwait), RSG (Serbia), and ZWG (Zimbabwe).
  • UPS Domestic
    • Updated the entries in the DGL for UN3506 and UN3369.
  • UPS International
    • Updated entry to the DGL for UN1230 PG II.

DGIS Functionality 

Functionality improvements 

  • IATA
    • Q Value and mixed packaging validation rules have been updated to include checking for listed maximum net quantities for materials with the same UN number, packing group, and physical state when validating to exempt a material from the Q-Value calculation.
  • UPS International
    • For International Air Passenger/Cargo Aircraft, the inner packaging will be validated based on the UPS_Inner column of the UPS International Header table. When there is no value in the column, the IATA Packing Instructions will be used.
    • When shipping UN1230, Methanol for UPS International Air, the user will receive the following warning: “UPS will ship UN1230, Methanol ONLY within Europe”

 

Bug Fixes - While there are a number of bug fixes included in this release, a list of highlighted bug fixes can be found below:

  • Miscellaneous
    • For Exemptions added to parts with TDG or ADR Regulation Modes checked, the selected regulations and transport modes will be checked off for Exemptions in Related Documents when viewing the part information.
    • Customers with an Enterprise license will now get an error message when attempting to add an Express license
  • AFMAN
    • For AFMAN shipments, an error message will be generated when materials are packed in the same packaging that do not have compatible classes.
  • IATA
    • Validation has been corrected when shipping materials with Packing Instructions 478, 479, 480, 481, or 959.
