DGIS 3.8 Release Notes (10/6/2019)

Minimal Administration Required

The changes included in this release are estimated to have a potentially minimal impact on DGIS systems and DGIS administrator responsibilities. Actions required may vary depending on materials and regulations used within your DGIS system. Please see below for more details.

DGIS Content

Update Highlights – This release will include regulatory updates to the DGLs, DGAs, Packing Instructions, Variations, and any other type of regulatory content for Q3 2019. Listed below are examples of key changes:

  • ADR
    • Updated the English DGA to reflect the 2019 ADR regulations, including:
      • Updated the Special Provision for UN2908, UN2913, and UN3326 English ADR DGL.
      • Updated the class definitions in the English ADR DGL for Class 1 and 2 and Division 1.6, 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 5.1, 5.2, 6.1, and 6.2
    • FedEx International
      • Updated the FedEx Carrier Variation FX-02(a) to include the following note: Subsidiary risks of Division 6.1 without a Packing Group are not subject to FX-02a.
    • IATA
      • Updated the IATA DGL and DGA for multiple materials to reflect the 2019 IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations 60th
        • This includes Special Provisions, State Variations, and Operator Variations updates.
      • Removed DL-05 from Airline Variations for Delta Airlines.
    • IMDG
      • Added special provision 943 to column 6 “Special Provisions” of the DGL for the 2018 IMDG “Water-activated articles” variation entries of UN0354, UN0355, and UN0356.
    • Multiple
      • All regulatory book reference links on the DGA pages for ADR, IATA, IMDG, and 49CFR have been removed.
    • TDG
      • Removed and revised the text for Special Provision 84 in TDG DGL and DGA.
    • UPS Domestic
      • Updated columns 5 and 8 in the chemical table for multiple materials.
    • UPS International
      • Added UN1230, Methanol, 3(6.1), PG II entry to the DGL.

DGIS Functionality 

Functionality improvements 

  • AFMAN
    • The user will receive a validation error when UN3090 OR UN3480 is packed or overpacked with material of the following classes; 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4 other than 1.4S, 1.5, 1.6, 2.1, 3, 4.1, and 5.1.
  • FedEx International
    • When adding an overpack to the shipment, the Auto-calculate checkbox is automatically checked, and the user will be unable to uncheck it, or edit the Total Quantity Per Overpack field.
  • UPS Domestic
    • When processing a UPS Laser shipment with Cargo Aircraft Only, the following warning will show during validation when the Use Single Packaging checkbox is selected: “Warning: UPS accepts single packaging only through its CAO contracted domestic air service. Bags and single packagings constructed of light gauge metal will not be accepted.”
  • UPS International
    • When processing a UPS Shipper’s Declaration with Cargo Aircraft Only, the following warning will show during validation when the Use Single Packaging checkbox is selected: “Warning: UPS accepts single packaging only through its CAO contracted domestic air service. Bags and single packagings constructed of light gauge metal will not be accepted.”
  • The Regulations tab has been removed.
  • Package Marking Settings have been updated to allow adjusting the font for the UNID independently.
  • A toggle has been added to the Package Marking Settings to suppress the space used for Shipper and Consignee addresses on the label.

 

Bug Fixes - While there are a number of bug fixes included in this release, a list of highlighted bug fixes can be found below:

  • Miscellaneous
    • Character limits have been set for each field in order to prevent internal SQL errors during validation.
    • Shipment Date (time and date of shipment creation) will now be retained when a draft is retrieved, for both the DGIS site and DGIS Web Services.
    • Validation errors are now generated when an invalid value for PrimaryFormLocale or SecondaryFormLocale is set through the DGIS Web Services.
  • UPS
    • “Steel pail” is now available as a UPS Worldship Outer Packaging type
