DGIS 3.6 Release Notes (12/30/2018)

 

Minimal Administration Required

The changes included in this release are estimated to have a potentially minimal impact on DGIS systems and DGIS administrator responsibilities. Actions required may vary depending on materials and regulations used within your DGIS system. Please see below for more details.

Any templates or parts that include UNIDs with changes in this document may need to be updated on December 31st with the revised materials.

 

DGIS Content

Update Highlights – This release will include regulatory updates to the DGLs, DGAs, Packing Instructions, Variations, and any other type of regulatory content for Q4 2018. Listed below are examples of key changes:

  • 49CFR
    • Updated to reflect 49CFR as published on Oct 1, 2018 and amended by Final Rule HM-259 and its corresponding correction, and Final Rule HM-219A.
    • Special provision updates.
  • IMDG
    • Updated to reflect the 2018 International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code (IMDG).
    • Additions:
      • UN3535 'Toxic solid, flammable, inorganic, n.o.s.' has been added with both PG I and II.
      • UN3536 'Lithium batteries installed in cargo transport unit' has been added.
      • UN3537-UN3548 'Articles containing...' materials have been added.
    • Packing instruction and special provision updates.
    • Segregation rules updated to incorporate the new "SGG" codes.
    • The word 'risk' has been replaced by 'hazard' in many instances in the DGA.
  • IATA
    • Updated DGLs to reflect the 2019 IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations 60th Edition. Please note that the DGA is still on the 59th edition, but will be updated in an upcoming release. All validation performed by the software is using the 60th edition.
    • Additions:
      • UN3535 'Toxic solid, flammable, inorganic, n.o.s.' has been added with both PG I and II.
      • UN3536 'Lithium batteries installed in cargo transport unit' has been added.
      • UN3537-UN3548 'Articles containing...' materials have been added.
      • UN3316 'Chemical kit' and UN3316 'First aid kit' without a packing group have been added as options.
      • UN8001 'Disilane' has been added.
    • Removals:
      • Old redirects for 'Aircraft' have been removed.
    • Proper Shipping Name changes:
      • ', stabilized' has been added to the end of the PSN for 2-Dimethylaminoethyl acrylate (UN3302).
      • The redirect for 'Thermometers, barometers, etc.' has been changed to Thermometers, barometers, etc., see Mercury contained in manufactured articles (UN3506).
    • Special provision updates.
    • ERG code updates.
    • State and carrier variation updates.
  • UPS Domestic
    • Updated to reflect UPS's posted changes for 2019.

  

DGIS Functionality 

Functionality improvements 

  • FedEx
    • Updated validation warning message for Division 6.2 materials to reflect changes to FedEx variation FX-04(c).
  • IATA
    • Added a new 2019 IATA segregation exception that allows the Class 3 material UN3528 to be packed with Division 5.1 materials (primary or subsidiary). Previously, the segregation rules did not allow these two classes/divisions to be placed together.

 

Bug Fixes - While there are numerous bug fixes included in this release, a list of highlighted bug fixes can be found below:  

  • IATA
    • Instances where multiple packages of the same material in an overpack were giving improper validation errors have been fixed.
  • IMDG
    • Instances where segregation codes were not applied to UN1458 properly have been resolved.
    • Fixed improper class compatibility messages for Maritime when shipping both Class 1.4 and 6.1 in the same package.
  • Form generation bugs
    • Consignee address now prints properly when user option 'Print Addresses in International Format' is enabled.
    • Custom outer package types are no longer cut-off and print properly.
  • Performance Fixes
    • Resolved various issues related to load balancing.
    • Improvements to load speeds for various pages in DGIS.
  • Miscelaneous Fixes
    • Additional issues where training records were not working properly have been resolved.
    • Security enhancements to API keys.
    • Fixed issues with ERG displaying some additional information incorrectly.
    • Several improperly available outer package types are no longer selectable in parts.
