Languages (5.2)

This article is subject to change.

Starting with the release of DGIS 5.2, the Languages screen displays a revised user interface but there has been no change in functionality.

Note: Under the Administration Tab>User Options there is a Languages checkbox. In order to override the default language based on your Country selection for an ADR or CMR form, this checkbox must be marked and the Administration Tab>Languages checkbox toggled on.

If the box is unchecked (no checkmark in checkbox), this will remove Languages from DGIS's left sidebar.

The Languages screen impacts the ADR shipping forms (ADR + Multimodal form and ADR+CMR form) and the TDG shipping form ('TDG + TDG').

ADR is the acronym for the "European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road”.  The 'ADR + Multimodal' form and the 'ADR + CMR' form are intended for shipments between European countries.

TDG is the acronym for the Transportation of Dangerous Goods in Canada.  When using the 'TDG + TDG' form the Shipper Address must always be Canadian.

The User Interface Language drop-down list choices are English, Spanish, French, German, Dutch and Swedish.

Under the Shipping Papers Language settings, if you push the circle from left to right for ADR or TDG, then DGIS performs the following action.

What this means is that when you select an ADR shipping form the Shipment screen will display a Primary Language field and Secondary Language field (The language choices are English, French, Spanish, German, Dutch, and Swedish).  If you chose a Language other than English then when you make your material selection at the Select Material window the choices given will be in the Non-English language that you had selected and those material properties will carry over to DGIS's Material screen.

After you've completed the shipment and are ready to print the form, the document will print in the Primary and Secondary Language that you've selected.

When you select the TDG shipping form, a Primary Language field will be visible on the Shipment screen. There is no Secondary Language field.

The TDG Primary Language choices are English or French.

When French is selected as the Primary Language, the Material screen will list the material choices in French and the TDG form will also print in French.

You'll notice that in the upper right corner of the Administration Tab > Languages screen is a Revert button and Save button.  If you perform an action on the Languages screen and click the Save button, the Revert button cannot be used (it's grayed out).  The Revert button can only be used when you perform an action on the screen but have not yet clicked the Save button.
