DGIS 5.2 Release Notes (10/20/24)

Administration Required

The changes included in this release are estimated to have a potentially large impact on DGIS systems and DGIS administrator responsibilities. Actions required may vary depending on materials and regulations used within your DGIS system. Please see below for more details.

Any templates or parts that include UNIDs with changes in this document may need to be updated after 10/20/2024 with the revised materials.

DGIS Content

Update Highlights – This release will include regulatory updates to the DGLs, DGAs, Packing Instructions, Variations, and any other type of regulatory content for Q3 2024. Listed below are examples of key changes:

  • UPS
    • DGL Updates to UN1169 and UN1197.
      • UPS has disabled the material UN1169 from their 49 CFR table and as a result the material can no longer be shipped with UPS as the Carrier.
      • UPS has changed the Proper Shipping Name from 'Extracts, flavoring, liquid' to 'Extracts, liquid, for flavor or aroma' for material UN1197.

DGIS Functionality

Functionality improvements -This release will include DGIS functionality improvements along with bug fixes for Q3 2024. Listed below are examples of key changes:

  • 49CFR
    • Added Lithium Battery Compatibility and Segregation Validation
    • Implemented changes for 49 CFR Unit of Measurement (including Gross Weights) and Package Weight [UOM "gross" has been replaced with "G", eg. Unit of measurement "kg gross" is now "kg G"].
  • IATA
    • Updated material selection choices when shipping under UN3363, Dangerous goods in articles or UN3363, Dangerous goods in machinery or UN3363, Dangerous goods in apparatus.
    • Special Provision A51 has been added to the validation rules, which allows 100kg net weight per package instead of 30kg for PAX. This special provision applies to UN2794, Batteries, wet, filled with acid and UN2795, Batteries, wet, filled with alkali.
    • Revised method used to cross out Passenger and Cargo Aircraft and Cargo Aircraft Only on Shipper's Declaration form. A block will appear instead of X's. 
  • Miscellaneous
    • Updated the Advanced Alignment screen.
        • Refer to the Advanced Alignment article to view updated DGIS images and details.
    • Added new User Option to 'Always Display Net Quantity' for IATA & Maritime shipments. 
    • Added the ability to use Special Provision A51.  When the material is selected a new A51 field will appear on the Material screen.
    • Updated the History screen which now includes a Clone feature.
        • Refer to the History article to view updated DGIS images and details.
    • Updated HTTP logging for API customers (Instead of HTTP status code 500, the user will receive status code 401. The SOAP XML content of the response will remain the same).
  • Administration Tab
    • Updated the User Management screen.

    • Updated the Subscription Management screen.

    • Updated the Defaults screen.

    • Updated the Locations screen.

    • Updated the Custom Validation screen.

Bug fixes - While there are a number of bug fixes in this release, a list of highlighted bug fixes can be found below.

  • ADR
    • Fixed ADR transport category Shipment Calculated Value hover value has "{0}" instead of actual transport category value.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Fixed Package Templates not being visible in the 'Select a Package Template' Dropdown in the 'Add to Shipment' Dialog for the Manager role and the User Role for companies that have no Locations.
    • Fixed Locations dropdown being visible in the Address Book when creating an address for Essentials customers.
    • Updated the password requirements window at the License Registration screen.
    • Fixed Location list not being displayed in alphabetical order on User Management and Defaults screen.
    • Updated material UN3363, Dangerous Goods in Apparatus, 9 to include "L" (Liters) as a UOM drop-down list option
