Advanced Alignment

How your computer communicates with your printer can alter the placement of fields when it prints your shipping papers and can cause them to print out of alignment. Sometimes switching your internet browser or selecting the 'Fit to Page' option in your printer setting can solve this issue. If neither of those solutions work, you can use the Advanced Alignment tool to fix the placement of fields on your shipping papers. Advanced Alignment can be found under the Shipping Papers tab, on the left side of the screen under Tools.

Creating an Advanced Alignment

Create an Alignment

First select the form type you need to change the alignment for. Each form type has different fields and will print differently, therefore each form that is misaligned will need an Advanced Alignment setting. To do this, use the drop down list under Form Type to select the appropriate form type.

Give the setting a name under Setting Name.

Some form types give you the option to select the paper size that the shipping form is printing on, A4 or Letter. To change which Paper Size your form is, use the drop-down menu under Paper Size.

Check the box next to Set as Default Alignment if you want the program to automatically use this alignment setting whenever a document is printed of that particular form type. If you do not want the program to automatically use this setting, then leave it unchecked. You will be given the option to choose the alignment setting when you print; at the print preview, you’ll see the selected alignment at the top.

To change the Font Size, select the font size you need to change the font to under the Set Font Size drop-down. Then click on each box that you need to change the font for. Reset the Set Font Size drop-down field to blank when you are done. Note: the default font size is 8px.

To move the text around, simply click and drag the box(es) that must be moved. Each box represents the text of that particular field. Notice that when you hover your mouse over a box, it will show you the font size and coordinates of the box. You can use these as a reference when moving boxes. For example when the mouse hovers over the Transport Document Number box in this alignment, it shows that the font size is 10px and the coordinates are 314, 64.

You also have the option to set the Top and Left Margins. To push all of the text fields down enter a value in the Top Margin field. To push all of the text fields to the right, enter a value in the Left Margin field.

When you are finished making changes, click on Save in the top right hand corner.

You’ll want to print out your shipment to view the changes and see if you need to make additional changes.

Note: Changes made to an alignment will not affect shipments in your history.
