DGIS 5.0 Release Notes (9/10/23)

Minimal Administration Required

The changes included in this release are estimated to have a potentially minimal impact on DGIS systems and DGIS administrator responsibilities. Actions required may vary depending on materials and regulations used within your DGIS system. Please see below for more details.

Any templates or parts that include UNIDs with changes in this document may need to be updated after September 10th with the revised materials.

DGIS Content

Update Highlights – This release will include regulatory updates to the DGLs, DGAs, Packing Instructions, Variations, and any other type of regulatory content for Q3 2023. Listed below are examples of key changes:

  • ADR
    • Updated ADR Spanish DGL based on the 2019 ADR through 2023 ADR. 
    • Added 2023 French ADR and Corrigendum 3 from UNECE Dangerous Goods webpage of the 2023 ADR French Edition book files and Corrigendum #3 to the 2023 Agreement Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR). 
  • IATA
    • Updated Operator Variations per the 2023 IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, 64th Edition eBook. 

DGIS Functionality

Functionality improvements -This release will include DGIS functionality improvements along with bug fixes for Q3 2023. Listed below are examples of key changes:

  • 49 CFR
    • Implemented changes for 49 CFR Net Quantity UOMs. 
  •  IATA
    • Updated FX-02 (e) Warning Message about the proper packaging specification requirements when shipping certain Class 2 materials since Addendum 1 has changed this requirement/restriction.
    • Updates implemented for the Cargo Aircraft Only Label Diagram so the label will accurately show on Sample Label Diagrams for Parts AND will/will not show on package label diagrams for AFMAN.
    • Total gross weight prints when one or more materials in the package has a maximum quantity “kg gross” or “Kg G” UOM. (FA-375 from DGIS-28348). Appropriate UOM's enforced based on the maximum quantity so that the correct UOM is used when validating and printing. 
  • Copy Settings
    • The Copy Settings menu on the Administration tab and the Copy Settings screen and functionality has been removed from DGIS.
  • DGIS Browser Version
    • DGIS will no longer support Internet Explorer web browser. Please use the most up-to-date web browser versions of Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Mozilla Firefox. Using older versions of these browsers may cause issues.
  • Administration>Reporting Screen
  • Partially Regulated Option
    • Field added to the Package level of the shipment object when using DGIS API, so that it can be used to notify the user when the package has a downgrade option.
    • Shipments that fit criteria for partially regulated will return a true value for Partially Regulated Option in the GetShipmentByShipmentKey response, and there will be a message indicating that shipping papers may not be required for that shipment.

Bug fixes - While there are several bug fixes in this release, a list of highlighted bug fixes can be found below.

  • IMDG
    • Updated Maritime Segregation Code SG6 (Packages) Compatibility Error Messages. 
    • User sees the following warning message, "Substances of the same class may be stowed together without regard to segregation required by secondary hazards, provided that the substances do not react dangerously with each other and MUST comply with section 7.2.6.1", when the same UNIDs are in a shipment.
  • UPS
    • Fixed incorrect UPS International PAX inner packaging limits for PI 446, PI 670, and PI355. 
  • Parts
    • Fixed DGIS Parts automatically adding Limited Quantity regulatory mode to part, when limited quantity is not selected while creating a part. 
  • Miscellaneous
    • Fixed the "Limited Quantity" checkbox so that it is not selectable for Class 7 Materials for UPS Laser Ground/UPS Crossborder and FedEx Laser.
