DGIS 4.8 Release Notes (12/30/22)

Minimal Administration Required

The changes included in this release are estimated to have a potentially minimal impact on DGIS systems and DGIS administrator responsibilities. Actions required may vary depending on materials and regulations used within your DGIS system. Please see below for more details.

 

Important!

Any templates or parts that include UNIDs with changes in this document may need to be updated after December 30th with the revised materials. 

 

Update Highlights – This release will include DGIS content updates, functionality improvements, and bug fixes for Q4 2022. Listed below are examples of key changes:

DGIS Content

  • ADR 
    • Added revisions to ADR DGA and DGL.
  • 49 CFR
    • Updated the Special Provisions to the 49CFR DGA per the PHMSA Harmonization with International Standards Final Rule HM-215P published, 7-26-2022.
    • Added corrections to Special Provision 134.
    • Added multiple revisions to 49CFR DGA and DGL.
  • FedEx
    • Added revisions for the FedEx Operator Variations.
  • IATA
    • Added packaging for Packing instruction 621 per 2023 IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, 64th Edition.
    • Added revisions and additions to State Variations.
    • Updated IATA DGL with 2023 changes.
  • UPS
    • Added revisions for the UPS Operator Variations.
    • Updated the UPS Domestic DGL with chemical table revisions.

Functionality improvements

  • 49 CFR
    • Update the 49CFR 173.185 Lithium Battery Mark Image in the DGA per the PHMSA Harmonization with International Standards Final Rule HM-215P, published 7-26-2022.
  • ADR
    • Updated the rules for when the Environmentally Hazardous / Marine Pollutant label is triggered in the DGIS.
    • Changed page numbers to appear on all form sizes.
  • FedEx
    • Updated validation to make sure that when a FedEx IATA domestic U.S. shipment contains a 6.1 material, it's being shipped in accordance with FX-02(a).
  • IATA
    • Changed DGIS to now list all outer packing types authorized for combination packaging, when viewing an IATA DGA page that includes Packing Instruction 490.
    • Changed the 49CFR required “Toxic-Inhalation hazard, Zone x” statement to now appear after the basic description and before Other Required Information text.
    • Changed the UN marking to now appear on the label diagram if it's required for an IATA shipment.
    • Changed DGIS to validate a Shipper's Declaration that is designated as Cargo Aircraft Only as a valid designation when completing the shipment, not when completing packages.
    • Update the Label Diagram with the new Lithium Battery Mark Images IATA regulation per the 2023 IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, 64th Edition.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Updated Security to have all passwords to expire every 90 days. Users will then need to select a new password.
    • Updated ERG 2020 Guide information in the Parts pages.
  • TDG
    • Changed UN1075 to no longer cause DGIS to select the “Non-odorized” checkbox, and the term “Non-odorized” will no longer be automatically added to the basic description. 
  • UPS
    •  Updated UPS Warning for refurbished lithium batteries.

Bug fixes

  • ADR
    • When attempting to modify the Material Sequence for ADR CMR, all updates from the secondary language will now show except for the PSN.
  • IATA
    • Changed Inner packaging types for PI 868 to no longer include edited packaging.
  • IMDG
    • Changed DGIS to show (kg) in the gross weight column of the IMO document when selected. 
  • Miscellaneous
    • Fixed an issue where Users were unable to save symbols "≤" and "≥" as part of Document titles and exemptions. 
    • Fixed an issue where the template name and type overlap on template screen when the template name is more than 30 characters in length.
  • TDG
    • Removed “Flash Point Required” warning in TDG when shipping via Passenger Road and Rail or Road and Rail.
